Beyond the Basics

Medicaid and Financial Stability in Ohio

Join us on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm for a webinar, "Beyond the Basics: Medicaid and Financial Stability in Ohio." Building from data in HPIO's latest publication, Ohio Medicaid Basics 2025, this webinar will explore research evidence on Medicaid as a financial support for people with low incomes.

Medicaid is a public program that offers health insurance and other services to groups experiencing economic disadvantage, including children and families with low incomes, older adults and people with disabilities. These groups face unique challenges, including costly and complex health needs, challenging community conditions and socioeconomic barriers to health and well-being. The Medicaid program fortifies individuals and families against the financial strain of receiving needed health care.Speakers will also highlight barriers to employer-sponsored insurance for working Ohioans, and the role that Medicaid plays in supporting Ohio workers.

Speakers:

  • Hailey Akah, JD, MA, Vice President of Operations and Strategy, Health Policy Institute of Ohio

  • Christal Hamilton, PhD, Assistant Professor, School of Public Policy, University of Connecticut

  • Jesse Reed, BA, Director, Life Services Ohio, CareSource
