Beacon Charitable Pharmacy is a lifeline for many in our community, providing crucial medications to uninsured and underinsured community members that are living at or below 250% of the FPL [federal poverty level]. Since its founding in 2002, the pharmacy has dispensed over 296,000 prescriptions valued at more than $31 million.
It is currently the only full-time, nonprofit charitable pharmacy in Northeast Ohio and one of just three in the entire state of Ohio.
Services include maintenance or illness-related prescription medications, blood pressure screenings, diabetes and health counseling, COVID and flu vaccines, and more. Clients contribute what they can, typically $2, $3, or $5 per prescription. In December 2023, the new "Pharmacy on Wheels" was launched to increase accessibility to prescriptions and enhance collaboration with community partners at health fairs and other events.
